LONG LIVE THE ARTIST’S GARDEN!

In the heart of London stands a bold, historic project: The Artist’s Garden — the world’s first and only public sculpture garden dedicated to the work of women artists.

Today it is at risk.
Since opening in 2021, it has welcomed over 100,000 visitors every year for free, every day. A free, open, space where the brilliance of women is not hidden, but celebrated at scale — a place where artists, young people and communities come together to experience what women can achieve, collectively, in public space.

But today, The Artist’s Garden faces eviction. Places for London, TfL’s commercial property arm is granting a lease to a private developer, putting this public space — protected by its own legislation passed in 1864 and reinforced in 1919 — in danger of being lost.

We have some GOOD NEWS: We're here to STAY until 31 May! The Artist's Garden has temporary reprieve to stay at our Temple site!

Thanks to YOUR voices, YOUR funding and YOUR influence - in the press, on your socials, across your networks – TfL/Places for London no longer need to clear the site by 1 October for 'essential safety repairs'.

But the campaign is far from over. We have only 9 months to:

•⁠ ⁠put the law into practice

•⁠ ⁠get commitment to remain - we don't want to be uprooted in May 2027

•⁠ ⁠get recognition of the value we bring to the community, artists, young people - both in London and as a beacon of best practice nationally

How? Through our:

•⁠ ⁠CAMPAIGN FUND – this powers the campaign, creatively – it pays for legal advice, advocacy support, national PR and press coverage.

•⁠ ⁠PETITION - we've only 283 more signatures to reach 5,000 – this is meaningful representation that politicians can’t ignore.

•⁠ ⁠NETWORKS - applying pressure across the arts, politics, economics and built environment regarding gender parity, social value, use of public space – every word in every ear helps.
